CFMTA 2015A wLeaf for web copyonderful time in Vancouver at the 2015 CFMTA Convention with fellow Red Leaf Composers  Teresa Richert, Martha Hill Duncan, Irene Voros, Beverly Porter.

Leaf for web copyOne of the highlights of my summer was co-presenting a session at the ORMTA ‘O Canada’ Convention in Toronto on Celebrating Canadian Composers, given by Janet Fothergill of the RCM. Matthew Fava of the CMC (Canadian Music Centre) was also invited to co-present. I introduced the music of the Red Leaf Pianoworks Collective in which a number of the composers were in attendance to perform their own compositions. Thank you to Beverly Porter, Martha Hill Duncan, Joanne Bender, and John Burge for your outstanding performances.

A busy fall included travel to Red Deer, Alberta and Florida to represent Red Leaf Pianoworks at the APTA (Alberta Piano Teacher’s Association) and Florida State Conferences.

It has been a busy summer attending both the Summer Sizzle Convention in Mount Forest Ontario, and the ORMTA Convention in Burlington Ontario. Red Leaf composers Martha Hill Duncan, Joanne Bender, Teresa Richert and Beverly Porter came together to showcase and display the wonderful Red Leaf music!

With Red Leaf Composers Rebekah Maxner, Joanne Bender and Martha Hill Duncan at the MTNA Convention in New York City. An amazing week meeting so many new teachers! This was a great convention that we hope to do again.

2011 - 08 - Aug - 13 - Redleaf#1A busy summer of conventions, with CFMTA in Regina and the Summer Sizzle CNCM in Mount Forest Ontario. Here is a picture of us at our booth at the trade show. Six of the Red Leaf Composers were in attendance – Teresa Richert, Martha Hill Duncan, Janet Gieck, myself, Beverly Porter, and Joanne Bender and we presented a  session on ‘Turning over a New Leaf’ – a presentation on our new Red Leaf Pianoworks venture.

Kingston Fall Music FairRed Leaf Pianoworks was at the public library in Kingston Ontario for a presentation of a selection of repertoire at their one-day Music Fair.

I performed selections of my Piano Poems, and assorted pieces from Piano Mime‘, ‘Let’s Pretend and Little Hands, Big Pieces. What fun it is to play some of these little character ‘sound bites’!

My colleague, Martha Hill Duncan and I had a fun time in Red Deer Alberta at the APTA (Alberta Piano Teachers Association) Convention.

Here we are at the trade show and also the airport where Martha took a picture of us waiting to board. This picture was initially upside down (must have held the iphone the wrong way!). That was a sign of our few days to come as we experienced first, a lost credit card, then, a lost cheque, and finally lost car keys!

But the convention was simply wonderful and the people of APTA were very gracious

and welcoming. We would love to go back!
